AFTERCARE ADVICE
The aftercare advice that is given, applies to piercings that are performed in our own studio. If you have had a piercing from another piercing studio then it is likely our advice will be different.
Our piercing techniques are radically different from any other studio, our healing times often DIFFER TOO.
The healing times & aftercare advice is a guideline only. We offer this knowledge with over 50 years of experience & client based feedback on what works & what doesn’t. Leaving a piercing alone works the best in our experience but all clients are different & we advise you to do what feels right for you.
If the piercing suffers an accidental knock or trauma, if you have a physical or mental illness, take medication for any reason, have bad personal hygiene or a low immune system then it could take longer for your piercing to heal.
FREE FITTING VOUCHERS are your own responsibility so please keep them safe if you wish to redeem them in the studio. :)
If you lose your free fitting voucher then a charge will apply if you ask us to change, LOOSEN or remove your jewellery.
We are no longer hand out aftercare lotion. This is due to the temptation of over application. From now on we just issue written instructions, which simply say to please leave your new piercing completely alone… EASY! :)
Your body WILL heal the area naturally if you completely leave it ALONE.
The idea of twisting/moving your new piercing daily & doing this frequently throughout the day is not necessary & rarely helps the area to heal nicely, in most cases it will cause soreness, redness or swelling to the delicate tissues which leads to longer healing times & can even lead to infection.
This moving of the jewellery is not beneficial whilst your piercing is try to heal.
Plus . . . it makes it easier for you because you do not have to do anything. :)

Aftercare Advice
Our aftercare advice is a guideline only. We offer this knowledge with decades of experience & client-based feedback on what works best & what doesn’t. Everyone heals differently. If you don’t agree with our advice, please do what feels right for you.
We advise that you let your new piercing heal naturally. You do not need to treat the area or use aftercare lotion. Aftercare advice about twisting jewellery daily & applying lotion is not proven to help the healing process. Just leave the area alone & don’t use any products on the piercing. It works!
However, if you do not agree with our advice & still feel you need to cleanse the area, use a piercing aftercare saline solution once a day. Spray or drop the solution on to avoid physically touching the area. Use damp kitchen towel if necessary.
NEVER use cotton wool buds or pads! EVER!
The fibres can stick & cause infection.
!!! PLEASE DO NOT MOVE, TWIST OR ROTATE THE JEWELLERY !!!
Piercings are prone to accidental knocking. This can cause bumps, redness, swelling or infection. It can also cause the piercing to grow out entirely if it is accidentally knocked or you catch it a lot. They do not grow out by themselves.
If you find you catch or knock your piercing a lot then a breathable gauze medical dressing (secured with medical tape) would help cushion & protect your piercing from any accidental knocking or pressure.
It takes at least 2 MONTHS for these piercings to heal properly. Ideally, please wait one month over the suggested healing time before coming in to change the piercing jewellery to ensure your piercing is fully healed.
The piercing jewellery should only be changed when it’s FULLY HEALED. Should the piercing suffer an accidental knock or trauma, or if you have a physical or mental illness, are taking medication for any reason or have a low immune system, then it could take considerably longer for your piercing to heal.
When the piercing is healed, ALWAYS wear jewellery in it, even whilst sleeping. It can heal over very quickly if left with no jewellery in, even for just 10-20 minutes. When fitting new jewellery, ALWAYS use antiseptic cream for gentle insertion.
Rings or Barbells can be tricky to change without the correct tools. You may not be able to do this yourself so you might find you need to pop back into the studio for your first jewellery change. Forceps are required to do this gently.
Your free fitting voucher is on the back of your aftercare leaflet. If you have lost your free fitting voucher, a charge will apply if you ask us to loosen, remove or fit new jewellery into your piercing.
If your new piercing is not healing after the advised time, pop in to see us & we will try to help figure out why. If you think you may have an infection, it is advised to seek medical advice.
In the event of an infection, it is advised not to over clean.
Over cleaning (3-4 times daily) can do more harm than good. If you feel you need to cleanse the area, then follow the cleaning advice above once daily or do what the doctor advises.
Avoid attempting jewellery removal yourself, otherwise it could cause swelling & discomfort.

If you have lost your free fitting voucher, a charge will apply if you ask us to loosen, remove or fit new jewellery.
Avoid attempting jewellery removal yourself, otherwise it could cause swelling & discomfort, go to a professional.
