AFTERCARE
The aftercare advice that is given, only applies to piercings that are performed in our own studio. If you have had a piercing from another piercing studio then it is likely our advice will be completely different.
Our piercing techniques are radically different from any other studio, our healing times often DIFFER TOO.
The healing times & aftercare advice is a guideline only. We offer this knowledge with over 50 years of experience & client based feedback on what works & what doesn’t. Leaving a piercing alone works the best in our experience but all clients are different & we advise you to do what feels right for you.
If the piercing suffers an accidental knock or trauma, if you have a physical or mental illness, take medication for any reason, have bad personal hygiene or a low immune system then it could take longer for your piercing to heal.
FREE FITTING VOUCHERS are your own responsibility so please keep them safe if you wish to redeem them in the studio. If you lose your free fitting voucher then a charge will apply if you ask us to change, LOOSEN or remove your jewellery.
===================================================================
We are no longer hand out aftercare lotion. This is due to over application. From now on we are just issuing written instructions, which simply say to please leave your new piercing completely alone… EASY! :)
Your body WILL heal the area naturally if you completely leave it ALONE.
The idea of twisting/moving your new piercing daily & doing this frequently throughout the day is not necessary & rarely helps the area to heal nicely, in most cases it causes soreness, redness or swelling which leads to longer healing times & can lead to infection.
This moving of the jewellery is not beneficial whilst your piercing is try to heal.
Plus . . . it makes it easier for you because you do not have to do anything. :)
AFTERCARE ADVICE
Eyebrow
Aftercare Advice
Our aftercare advice is a guideline only. We offer this knowledge with decades of experience & client-based feedback on what works best & what doesn’t. Everyone heals differently so if you feel you don’t agree, please do what feels right for you.
We advise that you let your new piercing heal naturally. You do not need to treat the area or use aftercare lotion. Aftercare advice about twisting jewellery daily & applying lotion is not proven to help the healing process. Just leave the area completely ALONE & don’t use any products on the piercing. It works!
Eyebrow piercings are prone to accidental knocking. This can cause bumps, redness, swelling or infection. It can also cause the piercing to grow out entirely if it is accidentally knocked or you catch it a lot. They do not grow out by themselves.
If it’s not healing as nicely as it should, or you are having issues with your new piercing then please come & see us then we can try to figure out why.
In the event of an infection, it is usually best to just leave the area alone & not to over clean. Over cleaning can do more harm than good. If you still feel you need to clean the area, then a simple sea salt solution once a day (or piercing aftercare solution) could maybe help to calm things down. Always boil the water first, add the sea salt to dissolve then let it cool to a tepid/lukewarm temperature before application. Try to drop the solution on to avoid physically touching the area.
NEVER use cotton wool buds or pads!
!!! PLEASE DO NOT MOVE, TWIST OR ROTATE THE JEWELLERY !!!
If you are concerned that you may have infection, it is advised to let a professional help. Avoid trying to remove the jewellery yourself, otherwise you could cause swelling & discomfort.
Please seek medical advice or contact us if you think you have an infection.
The jewellery should only be changed when it’s FULLY HEALED. Should the piercing suffer an accidental knock or trauma, or if you have a physical or mental illness, are taking medication for any reason or have a low immune system, then it could take considerably longer for your piercing to heal.
It takes at least 2 MONTHS (8 weeks) for the piercing to heal properly. Ideally, please wait a month over the suggested healing time before coming in to change the piercing jewellery to ensure your piercing is fully healed.
When the piercing is healed, ALWAYS wear jewellery in it, even whilst sleeping. It can heal over very quickly if left with no jewellery in (even for just half an hour!). When fitting new jewellery, ALWAYS use antiseptic cream for gentle insertion.
We screw the beads up quite tight on the barbells which can be tricky to change without the correct tools. You may not be able to do this yourself so you might find you need to pop back into the studio for your first jewellery change. Your free fitting voucher is on the back of this leaflet. If you have lost your free fitting voucher, then a charge will apply if you ask us to loosen, remove or fit new jewellery into your piercing.
